The Good Work of Making Obama a Former President

People had grown weary of Clinton soon after the second term began, I think. (By “people” I mean those who voted for him. I was weary of him while he was still campaigning in the Dem primaries.) However, you didn’t hear much said against him even during the most embarrassing phase of the Lewinsky affair. And people didn’t condemn him after he left office. Yet, he has slid (slippery slope style) down in peoples’ estimation steadily since his departure from the White House. True, he gets big money for speaking engagements,

but people will pay a lot to see a good circus.

If America is going to dump Obama, it had better be soon. The Republican party needs to get its act together and reach those 40% of Americans, including Democrats, who consider themselves conservative.

If Obama gets reelected, it will hardly matter how badly he manages government because people will accept being dumped on a lot. For one thing it’s human nature that people don’t enjoy admitting they made a mistake. They want to save face. I do believe that’s why Clinton can still show his face in public — - because many embarrassed people who voted for him are still trying to save theirs.

So … if Republicans are ready to govern again they need to recognize a few things.  One, that last election was the Dem’s to lose (natural political change, like weather, cycles).  Two, that the National Car cannot run on Charisma indefinitely.  And three, that the next election belongs to the GOP if the GOP will read some poll data and rediscover America’s political foundation.   Three and a half, the GOP needs to get a backbone again.  George Bush certainly had true grit so don’t blame him if the GOP has gone wobbly.

The presidency is not American Idol.  What’s more — dump Obama after one term and he’s Carter. He’ll go down in history as the Peanut farmer’s look alike.

Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me.

Somethings don’t change, even for the CHANGE man, and that’s human nature.  When the GOP rediscovers that fact, they’ll be back in the driver’s seat again.
